The Strutts.... Formed in 2004, the boys got themselves a regular rehersal room in the Temple Bar Music Centre and practiced there every week. Songs were written at home by frontman Liam Gardner and then perfected in the rehersal space. This got the band straight down to business with everyone knowing what to do on each song fairly quickly.
Rehersals continued for 14 months before The Strutts played their first gig - The Voodoo Lounge.
At the soundchecks the promoter realised the bands potential straight away and gave them the headline spot, and also a gig in Eamonn Dorans after hearing the full set. Other gigs followed swiftly including the Temple Bar Music Centre, Sugar Club and the Annesley House. The later venue became The Strutts home with the band securing a regular gig there every month.
It was in the Annesley House that they met Paul Gleeson, the venues sound engineer, and he was enthusiastic about The Strutts sound. He offered to record the band in the Qube studios above the Annesley House. 4 days of recording onto an analouge desk and a full day of mixing produced the bands first EP containing four tracks. The songs were then mastered by Darren Flynn(ex-Pale) at Gudenfast Productions.
This EP was aired on the Open Mic show on FM104 with three tracks played - Down, In Your Eyes & Had It Too. The audience texted in positive responses to the songs and the exposure helped bring in more fans to the Annesley House gigs. The Strutts are currently lining up more gigs and looking to build up a strong fanbase around Dublin and beyond.
